Are we looking at a sharemarket melt-up?
In four months of late 2018, US shares fell by 20 per cent, and dragged down other sharemarkets. That period of turmoil was often called a sharemarket meltdown, and dire predictions abounded.
Since then, however, share prices in the US have recovered their earlier losses, and gone on to set record highs — and we find key market players dropping that awkward phrase: a “market melt-up”.
